The Ginger News started in a Detroit parking lot at 7am with a cup of coffee and a camera. It hasn't stopped since.

The Ginger News was born out of frustration. Max Muncey had been showing up to Cars & Coffee events on Woodward Avenue for years — watching incredible machines roll in, meeting passionate owners, and seeing stories that deserved to be told. But nobody was telling them.
So in 2022, Max grabbed a camera, started a website, and began documenting the Detroit car scene he loved. What started as a personal project quickly became the go-to source for Michigan car culture news — from Woodward to Gingerman Raceway to the Detroit Autorama.
Today, The Ginger News covers everything happening in the mitten: Woodward Cars & Coffee recaps, Michigan car spotlights, track days at Gingerman, and the people who make the Detroit car scene the best in the country. The mission hasn't changed: tell the stories the Michigan car community deserves to read.

Max Muncey is Detroit's top car ginger — a self-described obsessive who has attended over 300 Cars & Coffee events on Woodward and across Michigan, driven everything from a $2,000 beater to a $400,000 supercar, and somehow convinced people to let him write about all of it.
When he's not at Woodward, Gingerman, or the Detroit Autorama, Max is wrenching on his personal fleet (a rotating cast of questionable Michigan decisions), arguing about tire compounds, and drinking too much coffee at 7am in a parking lot.
